I attended my ex-boyfriend’s wedding – now his crazy bride says I’m trying to steal it

Here comes … ex?

A wedding turned into a nightmare when the groom’s ex-girlfriend attended his wedding at his invitation – and the bride later accused her of being out to steal her husband.

The 36-year-old, who is married herself, recalled on Reddit that the two “amicably broke up” after dating between the ages of 15 and 18, simply because they chose to go to distant colleges.

“Since university, we’ve kept in touch ‘Facebook family’, where we wish each other happy birthdays, or congratulate each other on milestones, but we haven’t had any other contact in the 20-odd years since then. ,” the former wrote.

“About a year ago, I saw his engagement post on Facebook and congratulated him.”

A few months after that, the now-married 37-year-old messaged her to catch up on her life from her high school glory days and also expressed interest in a hometown wedding reunion with her and some other mutual friends.

She accepted the invitation.

Fast forward to the ceremony, she said things were “extremely normal” and the old gang from high school “had a great time”.

However, things quickly went south.

“Sunday morning I woke up to a bunch of messages on Facebook from my ex’s new wife about how brave I was to attend the wedding and how out of all his ex-girlfriends I was the only one who failed the test “, the woman wrote.

“She said that you DEFINITELY shouldn’t attend an ex’s wedding if you’re not still into him and how I should be planning to steal her new husband.”

The woman initially apologized and said she just went to reunite with old friends, but the bride wasn’t buying it.

“She responded immediately and again said that no sane, well-intentioned woman would ever think it was okay to attend their ex’s wedding.”

Still apologetic, she then texted her ex to say she had no ulterior motives for attending. The man later said the invitation had been “sincere” and he apologized for derailing his new wife.

“I left it at that, thinking it was a closed case. A few hours later the new wife is texting me again, complaining about how I was trying to manipulate her new husband into making her look crazy.”

She then sent the screenshots to her ex and decided it was best to block them both to avoid any more unwanted drama.

However, hell hath no fury like an angry bride.

“Yesterday I started receiving messages from [bride’s] “My sister says I poisoned my ex against his new wife and I should have kept the messages to myself,” the woman added.

“[I’m] also telling them that I could have avoided all of this had I known [shouldn’t] attending my ex’s wedding.”

Asking the online community if she was wrong about taking part, the woman was met with a strong not guilty verdict.

“Wow, this is bat madness. So you went to the wedding with your husband and he’s your arm while you try to rekindle your high school relationship … with the groom … on his wedding day?!” one said of the thought process of the bride.

Meanwhile, another said this is a big, overdue red flag for the newlywed.

“Hopefully it won’t be too late for him to get an annulment … his bride sounds … well, psychotic.”
