Exclusive | QB Tom Brady’s legendary Boston bachelor pad sells for $8.4 million

A Boston mansion that was Tom Brady’s lucky charm when he was the New England Patriots quarterback in the middle of the money just sold for $8.4 million, Gimme Shelter has learned. Last year it was asking for $8.69 million.

That’s double the $4.12 million Brady paid for the classic abode in 2004. The legendary Hall of Fame quarterback sold the condo for $5.28 million in 2008. The mansion still contains Brady’s “trophy room,” though the trophies are gone there, according to the mediators.

The spacious three-bedroom, 3½-bathroom space is in a historic turn-of-the-century Gothic Revival building known as the Burrage Mansion, which is now divided into four units.

“The iconic building, with its Gothic Revival style, complete with gargoyles, copper detailing, hand-painted glass and intricate wood carvings, is truly one of a kind in Boston,” said Compass broker Ethan Goodrich, who represented the anonymous buyer.

Goodrich added that Brady’s connection to the mansion — the fact that Brady lived there “during one of the most successful periods of his career, from 2004 to 2008” — makes it even more special.

Brady, who won seven Super Bowls, is recognized as the greatest quarterback of all time. He was with the Pats from 2001 to 2019 and played his final three seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He has since signed a $375 million television deal with Fox and is a part-owner of the Las Vegas Raiders.

Brady’s ventures include teaming up with Good Kitchen to create a line of TB12 performance meals. He also launched a line of vegan snacks that reportedly sold out within hours.

Brady lived at home, at 314 Commonwealth Ave. in Back Bay, during two conference championship seasons – including 2007, a “perfect” until it ended with a loss to the New York Giants during the Super Bowl. During this time, Brady set Gisele Bündchen up on a blind date in December 2006. They got engaged after he sold the house in January 2009 and have since divorced.

The 3,422-square-foot mansion was renovated last year.

The apartment opens into a marble foyer leading to an open plan living and dining area. There is also an open galley kitchen with marble counters, a breakfast bar and an adjoining family room. The master bedroom suite includes a walk-in closet and a marble bathroom.

Design details include three beautiful fireplaces and marble and hardwood floors throughout – along with hidden ceiling speakers and private storage.

The listing broker was Beth Dickerson of Gibson Sotheby’s Boston Back Bay.
